Once established woodland has been destroyed the original bio-diversity can never be replaced and is destroyed forever. Clearing areas of natural woodland also destroys all that lives within it. Birds, animals and plants either perish or have to find another home where they can thrive and prosper. Planting a new tree does help but an average sapling can take up to 7 years to have the same impact on carbon reduction as the mature tree it has replaced. We encourage planting trees at every opportunity and we must replace what we take to enable our environment to recover and continue to supply our paper, furniture and eco-building industries.
